Recognition of Hurricane Awareness Week – May 23-29, 2010. |
Executive Summary |
Texas hurricane season officially begins June 1 and ends November 30. Texas has 624 miles of Texas Gulf coast line and areas hundreds of miles inland being vulnerable to the devastating effects of a hurricane or tropical storm. From our experience with Hurricane Ike, the best defense is preparedness and public education. This Proclamation is to proclaim May 23–29, 2010 as Hurricane Awareness Week and urges residents to participate in hurricane preparedness activities and to pay close attention to hurricane watches and warning instructions. |
