Executive Summary |
||||
|
The Public Works Department is seeking authorization to renew the current Mosquito Control Services contract between Cypress Creek Pest Control and the City of Sugar Land. The contract has an initial one-year term (expiring June 19, 2008) with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods if both parties are agreeable. The contractor has completed two years of a three-year option as per the contract requirements. Cypress Creek Pest Control has supplied the City with written verification of their desire to renew the contract for an additional year at the current rate. The scope of this contract includes 20 complete citywide spraying cycles (May-October) as well as a separate hourly rate for special request applications. In addition, the Parks Department has $2,800 budgeted that includes hourly spraying of the City’s larger parks on a weekly basis and spraying prior to the Red White and Blue Fest. City crews will continue to complement this service with an aggressive larvicide application. Approval of this extension not only guarantees continued low cost mosquito control, it also allows neighboring Missouri City to continue its program for an additional year through an existing inter-local agreements. Funding is available for this service contract in account numbers 010-1430-514-33-01 and 010-1550-515-33-01. The Public Works Department recommends that the City Council authorize the additional one-year renewal of the Mosquito Control Services Contract with Cypress Creek Pest Control in the amount of $54,186.50. |
