Executive Summary |

|
Every two years, the county, cities, school districts, conservation and reclamation districts (MUDs and LIDs) have the responsibility to appoint by vote five members to serve as Board of Directors of the appraisal district. The five members serve a two-year term beginning January 1 of even-numbered years. The eligibility requirements for serving as a board member of the CAD are:
The Chief Appraiser provides vote allocations to the taxing units for the 2008 - 2009 election. The City of Sugar Land is allocated 143 votes out of 5,000 for this election. Nominees must be submitted by October 15, 2007 to the Chief Appraiser of the district. In 2005, the City nominated Lee Duggan III, John (Jack) Hermann, Thomas Shirley, Kevin Welsh, and Thomas Abraham. The current board members are Lee Duggan III, Bobby Rich, Thomas Shirley, Ken Bryant, and Kevin Welsh, and all are seeking re-election. Before October 30, 2007, the Chief Appraiser will prepare a ballot, listing the candidates whose names were timely submitted and will deliver a copy of the ballot to the City for voting. The governing body will then vote and submit it to the Chief Appraiser before December 15, 2007. The City’s 143 votes may be cast to one candidate or allocated among multiple candidates. The Chief Appraiser is responsible for counting the votes, declaring the five candidates who receive the largest cumulative vote totals and submitting the results before December 31, 2007 to the governing body of each taxing unit in the district and to the candidates. |

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUGAR LAND, TEXAS, NOMINATING ONE OR MORE CANDIDATES FOR THE FORT BEND COUNTY CENTRAL APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE 2008-2009 TERM OF OFFICE.
WHEREAS, the City Council is entitled to nominate one or more candidates for the Fort Bend County Central Appraisal District Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to nominate one or more candidates; NOW THEREFORE;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL
