Summary |
Airport rates and charges were last revised in 2006. Many of the charges in the current ordinance have not been revised since first adopted. Cost of equipment and personnel to operate that equipment have increased. Sugar Land Regional Airport, as a self-supporting enterprise fund, strives to recover City associated with services provided at the airport. The purpose of most of the proposed rates and charges is to simply “break-even” on services provided, with fuel sales and corporate/commercial leases being the primary contributors to operating margin. All revenues generated are reinvested in Airport facilities and infrastructure. The proposed rates and charges reflect the increases necessary to keep up with rising costs and to more closely reflect industry standards. The most significant changes are those proposed for:
In addition to the preceding changes to existing fees, new fees are being proposed for:
The Aviation Director’s Advisory Committee (five members who represent private pilots, corporate aviation departments and the flight school) has reviewed and recommend the proposed fees. Again, many of these fees will be required only infrequently with the primary purpose being to recover costs rather than generate operating revenues. |
