Receive workshop presentation and provide initial input

Executive Summary

This workshop has been scheduled to allow the applicant (Southern Land Company) to present information regarding the Planned Development (PD) District proposal and receive input from the Commission on the project.  This allows an opportunity to voice initial impressions / questions that can be addressed at a subsequent meeting.  Attached for reference is the approved Imperial General Plan (6/26/07) and the current zoning.  Additional details of the proposal will be made available during the applicant’s  presentation.

 

Typically, the rezoning process includes two meetings of the Commission.  The first is the public hearing meeting, where the Commission receives the staff report covering facts of the case, receives the applicant’s presentation, holds the public hearing, and then directs the staff and applicant to prepare any additional information that the group will need to make its decision on a recommendation.  At the second meeting, the Commission receives that additional information, and then renders a recommendation.  In cases involving major developments, we have historically included a workshop meeting to allow the applicant as much time as needed to present the proposal.

 

The public hearing on this item is scheduled for June 10, 2008.
