Executive Summary |
||||
|
The mission of the Sugar Land 101 program is to familiarize citizens with decision-making processes, the structure, function, and purpose of Sugar Land City government and to equip and encourage participants to assume a leadership role within the Sugar Land Community. The class curriculum includes three themes: The City as a Government Entity, The City as a Leader in Community Development, and the City as a Service Provider, both internal and external. The 2008 class of Sugar Land 101 included 29 Sugar Land residents. The class began meeting in February and completed the 10-week program April 24, 2008. Included in the program were two tours focusing on development and services. Participants provided evaluations after each class and tour and ended with a panel discussion on various public service volunteer opportunities available throughout the City of Sugar Land.
