City Council reviewed and discussed the Conceptual Plan for the Cultural Entertainment District on April 1, 2008. With much discussion, it was determined the Council would like to formally accept and adopt the Conceptual Plan for the Cultural Entertainment District. |

08-14
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUGAR LAND, TEXAS, ADOPTING A CONCEPTUAL PLAN FOR A CULTURAL ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the City of Sugar Land created a Vision Task Force that recommended creating a Cultural Entertainment District on approximately 1,000 acres of undeveloped land near the University of Houston at Sugar Land Campus; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sugar Land has collaborated with the landowners to use the property as an integrated mixed-use development for the Cultural Entertainment District; and
WHEREAS, the Cultural Entertainment District should reflect a distinctive architectural character and promote a pedestrian feel and multi-modal environment; and
WHEREAS, the Cultural Entertainment District should be planned as a year-round destination center with a wide variety of recreational, educational and entertainment venues, including performing and cultural arts and sports facilities, that appeal to all ages and tie into community programs and activities; and
WHEREAS, the Cultural Entertainment District should ensure connectivity to other key locations throughout the City; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SUGAR LAND, TEXAS:
Section 1. That it adopts a Conceptual Plan for the Cultural Entertainment District as shown in Exhibit A, attached to and incorporated into this resolution by reference.
