Executive Summary

At the November 6, 2007 Council meeting, the emergency replacement of one of the Ground Power Units (GPU) at the Airport was approved. Currently the Airport has two GPUs in service. At the November 6 meeting, it was stated that the purchase of a third GPU was approved in the Fiscal Year 2008 budget. The third unit will help meet the demand for electrical service for aircraft waiting at the airport.  At the time of the request, the cost of a GPU was estimated to be $27,000 and budgeted accordingly.

The Airport and Purchasing solicited bids for a GPU with the desired specifications.  Only one bid was received.  The amount of the bid was $33,259 and estimated delivery was within 6 months.  Airport and Purchasing personnel reviewed the bid, found it to be competitive and recommend approval. The Airport has sufficient funding available to cover the $6,259 difference between budgeted and actual price in the equipment replacement and maintenance fund.
