Recognize Sugar Land for prestigious accomplishments. |

Executive Summary |
||||
|
The City of Sugar Land’s official Web site, www.sugarlandtx.gov, was honored recently with two national awards. In October, the City received a Savvy Award at the annual conference of the City, County Communications and Marketing Association, a national organization. The Web site award was for the population category 70,000-200,000. Sugar Land’s web site competed against city and county sites from throughout the nation such as Thornton, Colorado; Tallahassee, Florida; and Santa Clarita, California. The site was especially recognized for bringing a fresh face to municipal government with its creative appearance and its functionality for residents. Here is what judges had to say: “The redesign of the City of Sugar Land's
website represents an excellent incorporation of visual appeal and clear
navigation. The color palette provides an environment for presenting colorful
photos and text. The pull down menus gives the visitor one-click, intuitive
access to a wealth of information. The logo-banners evoke a strong sense of
place, community pride and interest. The new web site confirms the city's
claim to being one of the country's best places to live.” Prior to this award, in September, the City Web site also was recognized with the 2006 Sponsors Award at the annual conference of the National Association of Government Webmasters. The conference sponsor, Delphia Consulting, based its recognition on the Web site’s branding of the City, marketing City events and improving usability through redesign of the site. City departments contribute the information to www.sugarlandtx.gov to assure that residents have access to city government 24/7. Public Communications manages the content on the site. The site includes the opportunity for residents, businesses and contractors to conduct City business online through e-services. The Web site allows all residents to watch Sugar Land’s municipal channel, SLtv, live on the Web site. This expands SLtv’s audience beyond Time Warner subscribers who receive the channel as part of their television programming. |
