Executive Summary |
||||
City Council has received and reviewed the Parks and Recreation Policy Advisory Board’s recommendation for the naming of parkland along the Brazos River. All Council members have expressed their sincere appreciation for the time and efforts of the Board and especially the Naming Sub-Committee members. The City Council concurs with the names that have been forwarded to them; however, they have proposed to name the corridor Brazos River Park instead of Brazos Trail. They prefer to use the name Brazos Trail to identify the main access trail routes paralleling the river throughout the 9-mile corridor. In addition, they are proposing to name the 420-acre site “Park on the Bend.” The naming theme for future site developments will remain as current or historical land uses including wildlife, natural features or historical use. City Council has requested that their preference and input be provided back to the Parks Board for further consideration.
