DIRECTOR’S
REPORT FOR MONTH OF
SEPTEMBER 2006

Brazos Park Land Ground breaking was held on
September 27, 2006.
·
Monday,
September 25, staff met with Sugar Land Little League about the revitalization
of Baker Field through a CIP project.
·
Staff is
working with the Police Department and Public Communications Department on a
comprehensive approach to security in Oyster Creek Park, including signage.
· Leisure class enrollment for September totals: Bridge (472 participants), Tai Chi (40 participants), Tennis Lessons (63 participants), Ballet/Flamenco (40 participants), and Jazzercise (597 participants).
· Senior attendance for September was 895.
· Senior Sweet Notes publication was mailed out to 1,778 individuals in September.
· Senior trip to Dog Races was canceled due to lack of interest.
· Senior trip to San Jacinto was held on September 29th and had 18 participants.
·
On
Monday, September 18, the Recreation Division staff assisted Public Works in the
Ave F Reconstruction Re-Opening Ceremony. All of City Council, the City Manager
and Assistant City Manager Karen Glynn were in attendance with members of the
Mayfield Park community to commemorate the finished product as part of an
ongoing effort to improve street and drainage conditions of the area.

· Daily pool attendance for the month of September was 88.

Pool operations ended on September 4th.

Saturday,
September 9th – the monthly Saturday Night LYF Program was held. It was our
highest attendance for this program to date with 135 participants.

Monday,
September 25th - 55 Sugar Land High School students were inducted into the
Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council.
· September Community/Conference Centers Report: 66 non-profit functions with 190 hours, 73 private functions with 425 hours, 181 City sponsored functions with 492 hours, 320 total building reservations with 1,107 total hours.
· September Pavilion Report: 26 private pavilion rentals with 202 hours, 1 City sponsored function with 2 hours, and 27 total pavilion rentals with 203 total hours.

Preparations for Brazos Park Ground Breaking Ceremony.

Soccer field number signs at Eldridge Park have all been replaced.
·
Inspections and repairs made at all athletic fields in preparation for
all leagues.

Renovations for the Senior Center will begin
first week of October.
· Senior trip to Delta Downs will be held on October 6th.
· Saturday Night “LYF” will be held on October 7th.
· MYAC holding a “Think Tank” on October 7th with the newly inducted members at the LYF center to discuss the five "America's Promises." More activities “TBA” for November.
· Senior trip to Ghost Tours will be held on October 18th and 27th.
· The Boo Bash will be held at the Sugar Land Community Center on October 28th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
· Senior Monster Mash will be held at the Sugar Land Community Center on October 31st.
· Senior trip to the San Marcos will be held on November 15th.
· Senior trip to Cheese Tour will be held on November 29th.
· Christmas Tree Lighting event to be held in Town Square on November 30th, activities start at 5 p.m. with tree lighting at 7:45 p.m.
