Recommended Action
Appointment of one member to represent the City of Sugar Land on the Fort Bend Subsidence District Board of Directors for a two year term expiring January 31, 2009.
Executive Summary
The term of office for Lee Duggan, City representative to Fort Bend Subsidence District Board of Directors, expires January 31, 2007. Mr. Duggan has served the City in this position since January of 1997. The law imposes qualifications on the members requiring that they be residents and qualified voters within the district. Staff has contacted Mr. Duggan regarding reappointment and he has expressed interest in continuing to serve for another two-year term. He stated that he has a good working relationship with the people and knowledge of the issues facing the district in the near future, and that he is committed to protecting the City’s surface water interests. We assured Mr. Duggan that we are available to assist him in any way he needs. Staff recommends reappointment of Lee Duggan to the Fort Bend Subsidence District. The Subsidence District must be notified of the City’s appointment of director by January 26, 2007.
