Sugar Land, TX – At the onset of fall, Sugar Land will begin a new annual tradition of a Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The event will be a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy many great activities that the season brings to the sweet city of Sugar Land as residents celebrate the community’s unique culture. For 2020, the Sugar Land Fall Festival will be planned as a virtual experience with the hopes of returning to normal face-to-face events once it is safe to do so.
The Sugar Land Fall Festival Virtual Experience will feature Sugar Land Town Square restaurants, bars and retailers with most of the video programming taking place within the plaza and within onsite interested businesses. The event theme will place emphasis on fall activities, food and entertainment with an assortment of attractions.
The Main Stage will energize viewers with leading artists who present an upbeat rotation of music and dance performances by a local solo guitarist and flutist, Rom Ryan, the Polka Dots Band, Mango Punch! and LD Dance Company.
A fall festival would not be complete without designated children and family activities. A majestic Abracadabra Magic Show will feature the magic of a children’s magician who has many tricks and illusions up his sleeve to entertain the entire family. Additional activities will feature do-it-yourself arts and craft projects facilitated by Sugar Land Town Square businesses.
A pumpkin-carving demonstration will feature the creative process of detailed carving with a collection of unique molding materials. The artist will show off the design skills that it takes to create pumpkin masterpieces so that all viewing participants can take away techniques to create their own pumpkin carvings at home throughout the fall season.
For those wanting to head outdoors during the week leading up to the event, a panoramic backdrop will be featured in a designated area within the Town Square plaza, and a Town Square Scavenger Hunt will be available within the square for all to enjoy from Sept. 19-26. The scavenger hunt will allow participants to form teams or participate individually. Scavenger hunt clues will be distributed through a smartphone app provided on Sugar Land Parks and Recreation social media platforms. Teams will follow the clues, with the individual or team with the most points at the end of the event being awarded certificates that will be displayed on the virtual hall of fame available online via the Parks and Recreation Facebook page on Sept. 26.
