Join us for beautiful kites, windy weather and exciting entertainment at the City’s annual Cultural Kite Festival. This event is free and open to the public.
The fun will include:
- kite contest
- chalk art contest
- cultural performances
- kite-making workshop for kids
- cultural food and beverages available for purchase
Kite flying is a popular activity and sport in many countries around the world, and it has proved to be a major hit in Sugar Land as our City represents a mixture of cultures and diversity.
The kite contest is open to all ages and kite shapes and sizes! There is no cost to enter. Trophies will be awarded to first, second, and third place participants in each category.
There will also be on-site registration at the blue City of Sugar Land tent at the times listed below.

Chalk Art Competition
Get your team together and show your creativity and spirit! The chalk art competition is free and open to all. During the event, certain areas will be sectioned off and the ground will act as a canvas. Chalk, tape, water, and gloves will be provided on-site.
There will also be on-site registration at the blue chalk art competition tent no later than 9:30 a.m.
The Chalk Art Competition is a collaborative effort between Parks & Recreation and the city's Cultural Arts division
