The Sugar Land Police Department has periodic openings for police recruit hopefuls. All police recruitment is handled by the Human Resources Department.
There is no active recruitment at this time.
Police Recruit Application Process
All candidates must complete and submit an application online.
On test date, successfully pass the written exam, initial screening interview and physical readiness testing. The physical readiness testing will test the following standards:
Have a vertical jump of at least 15.5 inches
Bench press 135 pounds or 67% of your body weight
Complete the agility run in19 seconds
Run 300 meters in 75 seconds
Perform 19 pushups
Run 1.5 miles in 18:08 minutes
Due to the length of testing, snacks will be permitted. Breaks will be given between segments of testing.
Contingent upon passing the exams, you will complete a preliminary interview and be scheduled to attend the oral review board. The personal history statement and background packet will then be provided to you.
Successfully pass the oral review board.
Successfully pass a background investigation.
Successfully pass a polygraph examination.
Interview with the Chief of Police.
Upon receiving a conditional job offer, must pass medical and psychological testing.
If an applicant fails to complete any portion of the selection process, he or she will be immediately removed from consideration. Applicants who successfully complete each step will be placed in an eligibility pool.
