The Citizen's Police Academy is an opportunity to take an inside look at the Sugar Land Police Department, a remarkable organization of people and technology. This class is offered free of charge.
Students are introduced to all aspects of law enforcement, including:
Police Department Structure
Criminal Scene Investigations (CSI: Sugar Land)
Traffic Laws and Traffic Stops
Active Shooter Situation Response
When in session, the class meets every Thursday for 10 weeks from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m., with 2 classes held on Saturdays at the Sugar Land Police Department. In order to be considered for the academy, an applicant must:
Be a current resident of Sugar Land, the extra territorial jurisdiction, or have an employment address within the incorporated city limits of Sugar Land.
Submit a completed application
Provide a copy of their drivers license
Provide a copy of valid automobile liability insurance (upon admission to class)
Have no criminal history containing a class B misdemeanor or above in the previous 5 years from the date of application
Have no felony convictions regardless of time period
Registration is currently open
Registration for the Citizens Police Academy will be opened until January 24, 2018.
